Odyssey Trail Running Rampage
The Odyssey Trail Running Rampage is a day of trail races held at Douthat State Park in Millboro, Virginia. The event includes four loop-format races on mountain trails that feature uphills, downhills, creek crossings, waterfalls, and rhododendron-covered sections.
Distances
- 50K Ultra three loops; two half-marathon loops plus one six-mile loop
- 26 Mile (Marathon) two loops
- 13 Mile (Half Marathon) one loop
- 6 Mile one loop, approximately 1000 feet elevation gain
Each main loop measures roughly 13 miles with about 2700 feet of elevation gain per loop. The majority of that gain occurs within the first three miles of the loop. Loops are slightly long by about 0.3 miles or more. The 50K combines two 13-mile loops and the 6-mile loop to reach the ultramarathon distance.
Aid support on each loop includes one water-only station at the cabin overlook around mile 3.5 and two fully stocked stations near miles 9 and 11.25. Aid station supplies listed include HEED water, flat cola, potatoes with salt, banana halves, and pretzels. Marathon and ultra runners may stage personal supplies at the loop finish.
The event is part of the Virginia State Park Adventure Series. Douthat State Park also offers nearby activities such as hiking, mountain biking, paddling, and fishing. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
