Oak Openings Stampede, Whitehouse OH
The event is held at Oak Openings Metropark with start and finish at the Buehner Center beside Mallard Lake. Runners use park trails that pass through hardwood and pine forests, open prairie, and along stream sides.
Distances:
- 25K (15.5 miles) loop on the Boy Scout trail, counterclockwise
- 5K (3.1 miles) following the blue trail and part of the red trail
The 25K course is a single loop and is marked with pink surveyor flags and yellow blazes; the 5K is marked with white surveyor flags. Aid stations for the 25K are located at roughly 2.0, 4.9, 8.2, 10.7, and 13.5 miles and will offer water, sports drink, and Honey Stinger Gels. The 5K has one aid station near 1.5 miles with water only. Both events will be chip timed.
Sustainability measures include Hydrapak reusable cups provided at packet pickup; disposable cups remain available at aid stations. Post race food is served inside the Buehner Center; the facility permits alcoholic beverages.
The event is part of the Toledo Roadrunners Club Trail Series. Member and multi race discounts are available as described by the organizer. Proceeds support SewHope, a Toledo based not for profit working in northern Guatemala.
Packet pickup includes an early session on Thursday September 10 from 5:00 to 6:30 p.m. at Second Sole Running Store in Levis Commons and on race morning at the Buehner Center. Parking at the Buehner Center is limited; additional parking is available at the Oak Openings lodge about one quarter mile east. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
