Northwoods Marathon & Half Marathon
The Northwoods Marathon and Half Marathon take place in Duluth, MN on snowpacked fat bike trails. Races use trails in Lester Park and the Hawks Ridge fat bike trail above the Lakeside neighborhood, offering views of the city and Lake Superior. The event is organized by Adventure Running Co. and is part of the Duluth Winter Trailrunning Series.
The series highlights packed multi-use fat bike trails that are maintained for winter use. This event is one of four races in the winter series, which also includes routes at Chester Park and Hartley Park and a separate Frozen 4 Hour event. Runners who complete all four races in the series are eligible for a special award. Two of the series races include both snowshoe and "no shoe" trail running divisions.
