North American Vasa Festival of Races
The 51st North American Vasa is a two day winter festival held February 13–14, 2027 at Timber Ridge Resort in Traverse City, Michigan. The event includes cross country ski and fatbike competitions on the Vasa Pathway and local singletrack trails through the Pere Marquette State Forest, with groomed courses for classic and freestyle skiing and a separate fatbike route.
Main race formats and distances include:
- 27K freestyle and 27K classic
- 15K freestyle and 15K classic
- 6K classic and 6K freestyle and an untimed 6K tour
- Fatbike 25K
- Junior Vasa youth distances for children aged 5 to 10+
The Junior Vasa offers short, kid friendly courses with age based distances and has a low registration fee; day of registration is available and bib pickup for pre registered junior racers occurs inside Timber Ridge.
Specific participant programs noted for 2027 include age class entry perks for the 27K freestyle race (age class winners receive free entry into the following year; second and third place finishers receive partial entry discounts when they enter the 27K in 2028) and King Vasa Viking Club recognition for skiers with 30 or more 27K starts. A Vasa Community Celebration will be held at Great Wolf Lodge on Saturday with food, a cash bar, music, a limited capacity of 400 people, and separate ticket pricing for online and door sales.
