Noche Trail Runs : South Llano River State Park
The Noche Trail Runs takes place on September 19, 2026, in South Llano River State Park near Junction, Texas. The event offers multiple distances run entirely on park trails over rocky, wide and single-track surfaces. The course is hilly and shows about 1000 ft of elevation gain per loop. Historic average temperatures for the event range from 72 to 93 degrees.
Distances include:
- 5K
- 13M
- 27M
- 40M
- 13M ruck
Headlamps are required for all distances. A 32 oz water carrying system is required for all participants and the event is a no-cup race, so runners must bring a refillable container. Aid stations provide hot and cold foods, snacks, water, electrolytes, pickle juice and ice. The main aid station at the start/finish area allows drop bags; two intermediate stations do not permit drop bags.
The ruck has specific weight requirements: runners over 150 lbs carry 30 lb, and those under 150 lbs carry 20 lb. Ruck sacks or vests are allowed. Camping is available at nearby park campgrounds about three minutes from the start/finish; other hotels and motels are 10–15 minutes away. Awards include first place for men and women in each distance, finisher medals for all distances, and a special bronze finisher medal for the 40 mile distance.
Race rules note no littering and no cutting the course, and volunteers support event operations. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
