Nippy Niner Trail Run
The Nippy Niner Trail Run takes place on January 24, 2027, at Spanish Lake County Park in north St. Louis County, just above the Columbia Bottoms Conservation Area. The course combines paved trail, gravel, single track, and double track as it moves around two lakes, including the upper Sunflower Lake and the paved loop around Spanish Lake.

The 9 mile course begins on the paved loop around Spanish Lake, then continues onto double track, gravel, and single track around Sunflower Lake; runners complete two off-road laps. The 5.6 mile course follows the same trail loop but with one off-road lap. The event uses a mass start format.
Registration is online only. Fees listed for the event include tiered pricing: $35 before January, $40 after January 1, and $45 on race day. Athletes registered before January 15 receive an embroidered beanie; registrations after that date receive a $10 Big Shark gift card. Packet pick up is scheduled the day before at Big Shark Bicycle Company.
Support and results information: one aid station serves both courses, passed three times by 9 mile runners and twice by 5.6 mile runners. Awards include overall top three male and female, age group awards, and a masters award for the 9 mile. Awards and official results are distributed after the event and results are posted online following the race.
The event proceeds regardless of ordinary weather or trail conditions; cancellation for extraordinary circumstances carries no refunds. Volunteer opportunities are available. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
