National Forest Way Ultra 75
The National Forest Way Ultra is a 75 miles (120 km) trail race across the English Midlands. The route starts at Alrewas Showground in Burton on Trent and finishes at Beacon Hill Country Park in Loughborough. It crosses Derbyshire, Leicestershire and Staffordshire and passes through ancient woodland, former mining landscapes, rolling farmland and varied trails.
The event is fully supported with six stocked checkpoints that provide food, drinks and first aid. Each checkpoint will have a medic, first responder or first aider. The race includes professional event medical cover, GPS race tracking, free race photography and a finisher's medal. It is an official UTMB Index Race in the 100K category and results count towards the UTMB Index for that distance category.
Entry requires runners to be at least 20 years old, to be in good health and to have completed a marathon before the event. Mandatory kit carried at all times includes a headtorch with backup, waterproof jacket, survival blanket or bivvy bag, minimum 1 litre water capacity, mobile phone, whistle, nutrition and the GPX route file. Random kit checks may occur.
A team relay option is available for teams of three, with each runner required to complete a minimum of 20 miles. Relay changeovers are only permitted at designated checkpoints in the presence of event staff. Drop bag facilities are provided at Checkpoint 4 and at the finish with maximum bag dimensions 40cm x 35cm x 20cm. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
