Nationaal Park Marathon Hoge Kempen
The Nationaal Park Marathon Hoge Kempen is a run and walk event held in the Nationaal Park Hoge Kempen, a protected area in Flanders that covers about 12,000 hectares of forest and heath across ten Limburg municipalities including Maasmechelen. The organiser published the 2027 dates as 20 and 21 February and notes the most recent edition took place on 28 February and 1 March 2026.

Walkers take place on Saturday and runners on Sunday. Supply points are provided along the routes: the 7 km route has supply at the finish; 14 km has one supply point plus the finish; 21 km has two supply points plus the finish; the marathon has three to four supply points plus the finish. The organiser limits the number of marathon entrants. Every finisher receives a commemorative medal.
A fixed part of each registration supports the Nationaal Park Fonds: €3 for the 7, 14 and 21 km distances and €4 for the marathon. Voluntary additional donations of €5 are possible. In 2025 contributions supported a 1.5 ha climate forest in Oudsbergen, 2 ha of nature restoration in Zutendaal and the installation of 100 bat boxes for research.
