MTC SELKIE
MTC SELKIE is a single-day ultra event held in northern Scotland and forms Day 8 of the nine-day MTC SCOTIA series. The published route runs from the Eagle Hotel in Dornoch to Inver Caravan Park in Dunbeath with a listed total distance of 42 miles. Competitor places are limited to 20 entries plus an additional 20 places for SCOTIA entrants, creating a maximum field of 40.
The organisers provide competitor tracking devices with SOS capability and supply route maps and GPX files to entrants before the race. The event enforces preset cut-off times based on a minimum average speed of 4.0 miles per hour; competitors who fall below that minimum may be withdrawn. All finishers receive a SELKIE medal, and male and female champions receive bespoke trophies.
Mandatory kit requirements include a backpack or equivalent, head torch with spare batteries, the route maps provided by the organiser, a compass or GPS device, a whistle, a mobile phone, basic first aid and emergency food. The race is cup free so competitors must bring a reusable cup. Entry fees are listed as £90 for standard entry and £155 for a Plus package that includes a race shirt and hi visibility jacket if ordered at least four weeks before the event. The organisers state that all event fees are non refundable and that entrants must meet the event age requirement and agree to the published terms and rules.
