Mountain Meitheal Fundraiser

The Mountain Meitheal Fundraiser is a mountain running event scheduled for Wednesday 19th August 2026 in County Dublin. The start, finish and parking are at Pier Gates, Lough Tay (Grid Ref 174905). The main course is eight kilometres with approximately 400 metres of ascent. The event is rated 7 (3,2,2) for difficult terrain, 200–500 m ascent and 6–10 km distance. The route is fully marked and GPS devices are allowed.

Distances:

  • 8.0 km main course, approx. 400 m ascent
  • 5.0 km short course / junior course

Entry fees are listed as €7 for seniors and €5 for over 65s and under 18s. Entries open on 17th August 2026 and close on 19th August 2026. Handicap start positions are used; handicap times will be published in the days before the race. The race is primarily intended for runners who have completed the summer league by completing at least seven of the thirteen qualifying races (summer trail races do not count). Non league finishers may take part but start behind handicapped runners and are not eligible for prizes. Prizegiving will be at Kavanaghs Roundwood.

Leagues apply and a Level B - Standard mandatory kit is required. Level B items include a waterproof jacket, hat or buff, gloves, whistle, charged mobile with an emergency number stored, and a foil blanket or bivvy bag. The kit to be carried may be finalised on the day and random checks may be carried out; failure to have required items may lead to denied entry or disqualification.

Volunteering notes: two non-running volunteer roles in a calendar year are required to qualify for an end-of-year prize, and volunteers are encouraged for event operations. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
