About the race
The Mountain Masochist Trail Run takes place in Montebello, VA on November 7, 2026. The event offers multiple distance options:

The course begins and ends at Montebello Campground. The route uses the historical MMTR course run in reverse toward the Mount Pleasant Loop and combines old and new trails. Runners continue south across dirt and gravel roads in the National Forest. With course changes for 2026, the route includes more mountain terrain and single track and less time on gravel roads.
Near Mount Pleasant the course follows the Old Hotel Trail and old jeep roads toward Long Mountain Wayside. Leaving the Long Mountain aid station the second half runs over dirt and old logging roads and several miles of single track. After the last aid station at Porters Ridge the course descends for about 3.5 miles toward Route 56 and the Montebello Campground finish. The route passes through parts of the Blue Ridge that are near peak fall foliage.

Site specific camping reservations are available through the event registration system, and cabin rentals are handled by Montebello Campground.
