Mount Glorious Mountain Trails : event overview
The Mount Glorious Mountain Trails event is a trail running competition held at Cedar Flats second picnic area, Red Cedar Park, Dundas. The 2026 program includes two distances:
- 22 km with 1,200 m of climb and 650 m of descent
- 11 km with 650 m of climb
The 22 km race will host the Queensland Open Mountain Running Championships. The 11 km race will incorporate the Queensland U20 Junior Mountain Running Championships and also run as an open short course.
The course starts from Cedar Flats, follows a valley climb onto a ridgeline firebreak, descends to England Creek (the manned midpoint checkpoint), then climbs continuously up to Mount Glorious. Runners traverse a historic stone-lined western ridge single trail through rainforest and finish at a clearing opposite Maiala Park. Much of the route lies on the west side of the ridge with tree cover.
Logistics and requirements include a limited field (150 in 2026), a mandatory minimum age of 18 on race day, bus-only transport to the start included in the entry fee, and mandatory self-carried water of at least 1 litre. Top-ups are available at three self-help checkpoints and one manned midpoint checkpoint that provides water, electrolyte drink and snacks. No cups will be provided so runners must carry a refillable container. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
