Monster of Mazinaw Trail Race 2026
Monster of Mazinaw takes place at Bon Echo Provincial Park in Cloyne, Ontario on September 19, 2026. The event offers multiple trail distances and runs across a mix of terrain, from wider groomed trails to technical, rocky single track where technical sections predominate.
Distances:
- 43 km
- 30 km
- 10 km
The course includes significant back-country sections that are very rocky, contain many roots, and feature steep ascents and descents; these sections can be slippery when wet. Runners should be prepared to travel 12–14 km without aid in some parts, and there may be stretches with up to 17 km between aid stations. Participants should be self-reliant on those sections and carry sufficient food and water, for example in a hydration pack.
Aid stations provide water, an electrolyte drink, PB and J, and sweet and salty snacks. The event is cup-less so runners must bring a collapsible cup or bottle. The organizer supplies a race tee, race bib, a custom finisher's medal for finishers, and food and drinks at aid stations. Park admission is not included in the race fee; day passes are required for arrivals on race day.
The event is sanctioned by Athletics Ontario. La Sportiva will be present with a demo fleet and two pairs of shoes to giveaway. THN Labs supplies gels in race kits and at aid stations; the gels contain maple syrup, tahini, sea salt, and rowanberry extract. GPX files from the 2025 courses are available; the 2026 routes will be slightly different but similar in route, elevation, and terrain.
Entry is limited to 250 participants. The event has an 8 hour cutoff. The refund policy provides a 100 percent race credit up to 30 days before the race; cancellations within 30 days are not accommodated but bib transfers are allowed without penalty. Camping reservations at Bon Echo can be made five months in advance starting April 19, 2026. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
