Mogollon Monster Trail Runs : September 11 and 12, 2027
Mogollon Monster is a weekend of trail races held on the Mogollon Rim near Pine, Arizona. The event is point to point, finishing in the town of Pine and running broadly east to west along the Rim.
The event includes these distances:
- 100 Mile ~100.9 miles, ~15,900 ft total elevation gain.
- 42K 26.7 miles, ~4,554 ft total elevation gain.
The 100 mile course climbs the Rim six separate times and spends long stretches on top of the Rim. Elevation on course stays roughly between 5,200 and 8,000 feet, with some climbs and descents reaching 30 to 45 percent grades. Sections named in the course description include Highline Trail, Myrtle, Donahue, Promontory, and several aid stations such as Fish Hatchery, Buck Springs, and Pine Trailhead. The route includes single track, forest service roads, steep switchbacks, rocky sections, and river crossings.
Aid stations provide water, electrolyte drinks, hot and cold food options and basic supplies; Skratch Labs supplies some nutrition products. Crew and pacer access is limited to designated crew zones and specific aid stations; the 42K does not allow crews or pacers. The 100 mile race requires prior completion of at least a 50 mile race and includes an eight hour volunteer service requirement or a suggested donation alternative. Shuttle service and parking are arranged from the Old Pine parking area; the finish is at the Pine Community Center. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
