Endurance Event in Cedar Falls
Meyerhoff's Mayhem is an endurance running event held at the Big Woods Campground in Cedar Falls, Iowa. The event follows a specific format where participants complete 4 miles every 4 hours over a total duration of 48 hours. For those looking to extend their distance, an optional 2-mile add-on is available after the final leg. The course begins at the designated tent area and utilizes a mix of paved trails and the local disc golf course to provide varied terrain.
The event offers two main participation categories:
- 48-hour Individual
- 48-hour Team Relay (2-4 people)
Participants in the team relay have the flexibility to divide the legs among members in any manner they choose. The event also accommodates ruck participants, who may use a weight of their own choosing. Because several segments of the race occur during the night, all participants are required to bring personal lighting for safety.
Registration includes race sweatshirts for runners, while finishers receive medals. Support is provided throughout the duration of the event in the form of water and light meals served at specific intervals. The menu includes items such as broth, energy balls, fruit, bagels, and sandwiches. Due to the nature of the course and event safety, pets are not permitted on the runs.
This event is held in memory of Chad Meyerhoff and encourages a communal atmosphere, including the option for participants to wear Halloween costumes during the race. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
