Melrose Running Festival
The Melrose Running Festival is a trail running event held at Mt Remarkable National Park in the Southern Flinders Ranges. The organisers scheduled the 2027 edition for July 24, 2027 and note that the park is a little over three hours' drive north of Adelaide.
The event offers multiple race distances with finishers of each distance receiving a finishers' medal. The 2027 program will include a two-person teams relay option incorporated into the 50 km course; each team member runs a 25 km leg, either Wilmington to Mambray Creek or Mambray Creek to Melrose.
Organisers have applied a qualifying criteria for the 50 km distance in prior editions and have asked entrants to provide evidence of qualifying runs; in 2025 qualifying races needed to be completed by April 30. Cut-off times have been enforced in past editions and are used to manage on-course safety. Mandatory gear lists exist with separate "good weather" and "bad weather" options, and the final mandatory gear decision is made in the days before the event.
Aid stations are shown on the course maps. The 15 km race accesses an aid station at the Mt Remarkable summit at about 7.7 km; disposable cups are not provided and runners must supply their own drinking vessel. Drop bags are accepted for longer races and must be clearly marked. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
