Mel Williams Memorial Seashore 50K
The Mel Williams Memorial Seashore 50K is a trail ultramarathon held at First Landing State Park in Virginia Beach on December 13, 2026. The course consists of two loops that mostly follow hard packed dirt trails through wooded ecosystems, with about one mile at the start and finish on paved road. The main trail is mostly flat while side trails include slight hills, tree roots in places, and several wooden bridges.
Two full aid stations are located at 64th Street and Bald Cypress and offer food, water, and Tailwind; runners pass each aid station multiple times. The event is cup less, so carrying water bottles or a collapsible cup is recommended. Drop bags are available near the start/finish at approximately mile 16; unclaimed items will not be mailed and may be donated.
Online registration opens July 1, 2026 and remains open through December 10 or until capacity is reached. Entry fees are $100 before September 1 and $125 from September 1 to December 10. Refunds with a $25 administrative fee are available through August 31; no refunds, transfers, or deferrals are allowed after September 1. Minimum age to enter is 18.
Runners must complete the course within an overall time limit of eight hours and there are two strictly enforced intermediate cutoffs. All registered runners receive a Brooks shirt and all finishers receive a medal. A post race party is held at Smartmouth Brewery Pilot House where runners and volunteers receive pizza and two beer tickets. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
