Megunticook Trail Festival
The Megunticook Trail Festival takes place on September 12, 2026 in Camden, Maine, inside Camden Hills State Park. Organized by Megunticook50, the event offers three trail races that use the park's trail network and limit entries.
- 50K : traverses over 90% of park trails, about 7,600 feet elevation gain.
- 20K (Halfast) : mainly wide gravel trail, 1,900 feet elevation gain, 3.9 km singletrack.
- 10K (Wicked Tough) : mostly trails, over 1,600 feet elevation gain, ledge ocean views.
The Megunticook 50 crosses all major park peaks and includes six aid stations. The 20k route runs largely on a multi-use gravel trail, includes Cameron Mountain, and has two aid stations (one passed twice). Courses are well marked; runners are responsible for staying on course.
Registration for each race includes a bib, a t-shirt, a swag item, and a post-race meal. There are no refunds; deferrals are allowed for pregnancy or if a registrant volunteers for the event. Entries are limited.
The festival is held on the ancestral, unceded lands of the Wabanaki Nations. All Indigenous peoples are invited to run free of charge. Registrants may choose to donate to Niweskok, a Wabanaki-led community organization. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
