Event Overview
The Meandering Turkey is a trail running event scheduled for late November in Cape Girardeau, Missouri. Organized by the Missouri Running Company, the race takes place within Klaus Park, located between the communities of Cape Girardeau and Jackson.
Course Details
The primary event is a 5.5 Miler. While the surface is occasionally described in jest as a paved road, the course actually consists of approximately 5.5 miles of hilly single-track trails featuring various natural obstacles such as roots. Following the main event, a Kids Fun Run is held for participants aged 12 and under. This free run covers approximately 1.5 miles and is subject to weather conditions.
Participant Information
Field size is strictly limited to 100 participants due to trail capacity and available parking at the venue. All registered runners receive a performance tech shirt. Registration must be completed in advance as there is no race day registration available. Post-race food and beverages are provided for participants.
Divisions and Recognition
The event recognizes top performers and age-group participants across several categories: Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
- 5.5 Miler: Awarded to overall male and female winners and the top three in each age division.
- Age Divisions: Categories include 0-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, and 60+.
- Division Splitting: If more than eight participants register in a single division, it will be further divided into five-year age groups.
