Run for the Springs 5K : Marion County Airport, Dunnellon
The Run for the Springs 5K is scheduled for February 27, 2027 at Marion County Airport in Dunnellon, Florida. The event is a 5 kilometer (3.1 mile) course held on airport property, where participants will encounter the sights and sounds of aircraft operations.
The course is described as trail-style and includes a mix of surfaces such as pavement, asphalt, gravel, and other uneven terrain. Participants are advised to wear appropriate footwear and exercise caution while on course. Early packet pick-up is available February 22–26, 2027, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, at the Marion County Office of the County Engineer in Ocala.
Awards include medals for top finishers in each age group and a Traveling Cup for the fastest team. Teams must include at least three participants to be eligible for the team award. After the race there will be refreshments, door prizes, and community activities.
The event raises awareness about protecting local springs and waterways. Proceeds are returned to Marion County residents and local businesses through grants that support projects benefiting the health and protection of springs.
