About the race
The Marató dels Dements is a mountain running event held in the Serra d’Espadàn with national and international scope. The programme for 2026 includes two races based in the towns of Eslida and Aín and organised by the Club de Muntanya Dements together with both town councils. The Marató dels Dements is also the Skymasters final of the Merrell Skyrunner World Series and is subject to the Skyrunner World Series rules and Skymasters eligibility requirements.
The route information and key characteristics:
- 42.5 km, 3,808 m positive and negative elevation gain
- 22.5 km, 2,007 m positive and negative elevation gain
Most of the courses run on mountain trails and paths through the Sierra Espadán, passing named points such as Pico Espadán, Barranc del Roig, Puntal de l’Aljub and Alto de la Costera. The Marató includes many steep sections and mostly singletrack trails; organisers describe it as technically demanding and recommend prior experience and adequate preparation.
Race services and rules include aid stations with liquids and solid food at set kilometres, mandatory equipment checks, medical support, time cutoffs, and trophies for top finishers. The Skymasters classification awards cash prizes up to tenth place in the men and women categories under anti doping controls and prize claim procedures.
