About the race
The Marató dels Dements is a mountain running event that takes place in the Serra d’Espadàn with routes between the towns of Eslida and Aín. The event in 2026 includes two circular races through mountain trails and paths, and the marathon route is mostly on singletrack and steep terrain.

- Marató dels Dements : 42.5 km, 3,808 m positive and negative elevation.
- Mitja Marató dels Dements d’Aín : 22.5 km, 2,007 m positive and negative elevation.
The marathon course runs almost entirely on footpaths, with many climbs and descents and several named landmarks such as Pico Espadán, Barranc del Roig and Puntal de l’Aljub. The marathon also serves as the Skymasters final of the Skyrunner World Series and awards extra points that influence the season rankings; top ten finishers affect the overall series classification and prize distribution.
Participation requirements and categories are specified in the regulation. For the Marató dels Dements entrants must prove a recent finisher result in a long mountain race meeting specific elevation criteria. Minimum age is 18 for the marathon and 16 for the half marathon with parental authorization. The regulation lists mandatory equipment such as a minimum 1 L water reserve, thermal blanket, whistle, GPS device, and a front light for those likely to be long on course.
