Malad Valley Marathon - Race overview
The Malad Valley Marathon takes place in Malad City, Idaho on September 11, 2027. The event uses Malad City Park for the shared start and finish and covers five distances across the valley with mountain views.
Distances offered:
- 26.2 miles Full Marathon, two laps of the half-marathon loop
- 13.1 miles Half Marathon, one valley loop
- 10K paved out-and-back
- 5K paved out-and-back
- 1 Mile untimed community run
The half and full marathons mix hard-packed dirt and asphalt, roughly a 50/50 split. The half and full have a climb out of town followed by a long descent; total elevation is roughly 4,500 feet. Aid is provided roughly every 2–3 miles with water, electrolytes, snacks, and porta-potties; there is also finish-line aid.
Chip timing and custom finisher medals are included for the 5K, 10K, half and full marathon. The 1 Mile is untimed and does not include a finisher medal. Race shirts are guaranteed for participants who register and pay by August 21, 2027 unless the $10 no-shirt option is chosen; hats remain available after the shirt deadline. Free race photos are posted within 48 hours and live results and tracking are provided.
Awards are presented to the first, second, and third overall finishers in each chip-timed distance. Entries are non-refundable. Only service animals are allowed on course. Bag check is not provided. Authorized bib transfers must be processed through the race director. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
