About the race
The Mactaquac Trail Race is the 9th edition held in Mactaquac Provincial Park on October 3 and 4, 2026. The event uses a mixture of single-track and double-track trails and offers three distances.
The course is described as not very hilly but rarely flat. Runners cross a stream twice and traverse several bridges; sections can be slippery and roots may be exposed. Water stations will be nearly cupless, so participants are expected to bring a personal cup, bottle, or hydration bladder. A bag drop is available for post-race clothing and belongings.
A new 5K on Saturday offers a shorter, partly technical course intended for beginning trail runners. The 5K has a lower fee than the Sunday events, uses manual timing, and includes limited food; 5K participants still receive the event swag. The Sunday program features 10K and 20K options; the 20K is two loops of the 10K course. Awards and draw prizes are given after the Sunday races.
Registration is online only; there is no on-site day-of registration for the main races. Online registration closes the day before the event and there are no refunds or deferrals, though a transfer period opens once the race sells out. A free Kids Run is scheduled on Saturday with on-site registration. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
