About the race
Mactaquac by Day takes place on November 7, 2026 at Mactaquac Provincial Park. The event is a classic point-to-point orienteering meet where participants follow a course and must find all controls in the order set by the organizer. The event also serves as the provincial championships but is open to the public and does not require prior orienteering experience.
Help will be available on site for beginners. There are several courses with different lengths and technical demands: - Beginner, under 2 km, controls along trails - Basic, about 2 km, many controls near trails - Intermediate, 2 to 3 km, most controls off trails - Advanced, 3 to 5 km, off-trail controls and route choice Pre-registration is required. Organizers ask for participant names and birth years, team name if any, club or organization, chosen course, and SportIdent serial number if available. Participants are encouraged to print and pre-fill the required insurer paperwork and a waiver; limited copies will be available on site.
Registration fees follow the stated standard fees: Basic and Beginner $10, Adults on longer courses $15, Juniors under 21 $10, family maximum $30. SportIdent electronic timing is used and devices will be loaned if needed; a $50 charge applies for lost devices. Participants should wear clothing that can get dirty, consider a change of clothes, and note that compass and whistle are mandatory.
