Lucy Mac 5K9
The Lucy Mac 5K9 is a trail event at Ascutney Outdoors in Brownsville, VT, organized by Lucy Mackenzie Humane Society in celebration of its 111th year. The event offers two course options and raises funds for the humane society.
- 3.2 miles timed trail 5K
- 1 mile recreational course
Both courses run on handcrafted trails at the western base of Ascutney Mountain. The 5K route crosses fields, streams and woods and finishes down ski slopes. Trail surfaces include grass, dirt with rocks and exposed roots, dirt road and wooden bridges; some sections may be muddy or wet.
Dogs are welcome but must be kept on leash and owners must pick up after them. Amenities at the Ascutney Outdoors Center include indoor bathrooms and water bubblers. Organizers will provide bottled water and light refreshments. All participants who complete the 5K receive a custom Lucy Mac 5K9 medal. Participants who raise at least $111 will receive a free 2026 5K9 t-shirt at check-in; a limited number of shirts will be available for purchase afterward.
Registration fees are $30 for the 5K trail and $20 for the 1-mile trail. Registration opens 2026-04-26 and closes 2026-09-10. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
