Lost Sierra Endurance Race
The Lost Sierra Endurance Race takes place July 23-24, 2027 around Downieville and nearby Sierra City, California. The event offers multiple trail distances and a separate summit challenge.
- 100K: out-and-back from Downieville to Plumas-Eureka, 10,780 ft elevation gain.
- 50K: point-to-point from Plumas-Eureka to Downieville, 5,360 ft elevation gain.
- 25K: loop from Downieville via the First, Second, and Third Divide Trails, 2,330 ft gain.
- Summit VK+: 7 miles from Sierra City to Sierra Buttes Fire Lookout, 4,330 ft elevation gain.
There are five unique aid stations stocked with water, hydration mix, and light food; Aid #1, Aid #2, and Aid #5 also offer warm foods. Crew access points include Aid #2, Aid #4, and Aid #5. The 25K, 50K, and 100K use different combinations of these stations. Trail surface is primarily singletrack with rocky and smooth sections; the course breakdown is about 70% alpine singletrack, 20% mountain bike singletrack, and 10% dirt, gravel, or paved road.
Cutoff windows vary by distance. The 100K requires mandatory gear including a space blanket, pack or hydration vest, and a headlamp. Pacers are permitted for 100K runners under specific rules and only one pacer may accompany a runner at a time. Drop bag access points are provided for the 50K and 100K. Accommodations in Downieville and Sierra City are limited; tent camping at the start area is allowed but facilities are minimal. Registration refunds are not provided, though rollover credit is available on a graded schedule and a pregnancy policy permits exceptions.
