Longshaw Sheepdog Trials Fell Race
The Longshaw Sheepdog Trials Fell Race takes place on Saturday 5 September 2026 on the Longshaw estate and in the Grindleford Valley. The course for 2026 uses the new route introduced in 2025, staying largely on estate paths and with fewer road crossings.
The route distance is 7.1 km (4.4 miles) with 237 m (777 ft) of climb. The 2026 layout is very slightly shorter with a little less overall climb than the previous route but includes some tricky descents and steep ascents. The majority of the course is on publicly accessible paths and there are many places to watch the runners without entering the sheepdog trials event.
The race is permitted by the Fell Runners Association and all competitors must carry FRA minimum kit and follow FRA racing rules. Entry to the fell race grants access to the Sheepdog Trials event where grandstand seating, food and drink concessions and other event features are provided; spectators who only wish to attend the trials need a separate ticket for the trials area.
