Localz 50K - BErad Racing
Localz is a free, unsupported, self-navigated 50 km route that visits a number of Peoria's notable spots. The event is organized as a city exploration run where participants follow a curated course and navigate using the provided route files or written directions.
Organizers will make a GPX file and a map PDF available; these resources are listed as coming soon. Because the event is unsupported, participants are expected to carry their own food and beverages. Donations are accepted to support hot chocolate, water, and snacks provided at points along the route. Race directors may appear at times along the course with occasional small gifts.
The route begins and ends at the Alta Road trail head. Cutoff times and other logistical details are determined by the organizer and will be shared before the event. Hats with the Localz logo are offered for purchase through the organizer's channels and at the event.
Awards include a special prize for the F.A.M. (First As Mapped) finisher who proves via a tracking map that they followed the course as directed. An annual patch is distributed each year as a commemorative item for participants who complete the route. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
