About the race
Live Oak Ultra is an urban coastal event in Biloxi, Mississippi, organized by Rougarou Running. The route runs through Biloxi and Ocean Springs, passing the Biloxi Lighthouse, the beach boardwalk, the Biloxi-Ocean Springs bridge, Front and East Beaches, and areas of Gulf Islands National Seashore State Park. The start and finish are at Altered Reality Brewing in downtown Biloxi and a finish area meal and beverages are provided.
The event offers the following distances:
- 50K along Biloxi and Ocean Springs coastal route
- Half Marathon follows the 50K route with a shorter loop back to Biloxi
Course navigation is supported with downloadable GPX files for phone map apps and watches, neon tape marking at turns, and pocket-sized turn cards available at check in. The route is urban with relatively low traffic; runners should maintain navigation awareness. Aid support includes approximately six locations with water, Hammer Nutrition products (Heed and gels), fruit, snacks, and occasional extra food options. Some aid stations are unmanned water only. Drop bags are allowed at stations 2/5, 3, and 4 and should be labeled with the runner name and location. Public restrooms and portables are available at several points along the route.
The event uses Ultrasignup app timing for published results. Runners have a 10 hour course time limit. Awards are given to all finishers; the 50K has additional top overall and age division awards. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
