About the race
The Limburg Wine Trail is a trailrun event through the hilly vineyards and natural areas of South Limburg, held at the Kasteelhoeve Cartils estate in Gulpen-Wittem on 2 October 2027. The routes run mainly over unpaved roads and pass alongside and through several vineyards, as well as through forests and meadows. Parcours are clearly marked so participants do not need a map or GPS.
Distances and elevation gains:
- 10 km : 220 m D+
- 15 km : 300 m D+
- 20 km : 370 m D+
The event includes on-course wine tasting and a finish area on the estate with local wines, food and music. Local wines offered change yearly and the finish zone provides tasting opportunities after each route. The start and finish are located on the 33-hectare Kasteelhoeve Cartils landgoed, which contains mixed habitat types such as botanical meadows, hedges, wet and dry nature patches and small woodlands. There is a large parking area approximately 200 m from the domain.
The event supports the Kika charity; previous fundraising reached 7000 euro in 2025. A parallel walking option is mentioned under the Limburg Wine Walk for those who prefer to walk and participate in wine tastings. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
