CRYO Races
Les Courses CRYO are winter running events held on the frozen surface of Lake Saint-Jean, organized by the foundation Sur la pointe des pieds and presented by MRC du Domaine-du-Roy. The 2027 edition takes place on 20 February 2027 with a maximum of 285 participants and a registration deadline of 31 January 2027.
The event offers two distance options and specific logistics for each course:
- 12 km Marina de Roberval to Chalets et Spa Lac Saint-Jean. Registration $76. Fundraising $500.
- 24 km Start and finish at Chalets et Spa Lac Saint-Jean. Registration $101. Fundraising $750.
Athlete arrival, bib pickup and mandatory equipment verification are handled at Chalets et Spa Lac Saint-Jean before the races. A shuttle transfer is mandatory for athletes in the 12 km event between the Chalet and Spa location and the Marina de Roberval. Guides, a cancellation and refund policy, and a volunteer guide are published for participants.
Fundraising for the races supports therapeutic adventure expeditions for young people affected by cancer; event materials reference the cost of an expedition and resources to help with fundraising. The event program and logistical notes point to winter conditions on the lake such as cold, darkness and variable surface conditions, and note that participants face physical and mental demands specific to running on a frozen lake.
