About the race
Last Wolf Howling is a Last Person Standing running event proposed for Petal, MS and currently pending final permitting and city approval. The proposed venue is Petal River Park on the south/east side of Hwy 11. Registration is open but entries will not be charged until the site and date are confirmed; registrants receive a confirmation that may read "Waitlist/Lottery" but will have a reserved spot and will be asked to confirm interest when permits are final.
The event uses a looped course of approximately 4.167 miles. Runners complete the loop once each hour; failing to finish the loop within the 60 minute limit ends that runner’s participation. Completing 24 loops equals 100 miles, and the race continues until only one runner can finish a solo lap. A special provision allows the last person standing to continue alone to reach 100 miles.
Course terrain is mostly flat, wooded single and double track with some dirt and gravel road and minimal elevation change. Aid is provided on site with a fully stocked aid station offering meals, snacks, and beverages throughout the event. Crew tents are allowed near the start area; a separate area will be provided for uncrewed runners. Porta potties will be available at the start/finish area.
Results are recorded by mileage on UltraSignup with no DNFs issued; runners who complete at least one loop receive a finisher medal. Runners reaching 100 miles receive a buckle. Race rules include no pacers and no crew assistance on course; runners may assist one another. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
