Last Wolf Howling
Last Wolf Howling is a Last Person Standing trail event scheduled for November 21, 2026 at Petal River Park in Petal, MS (784 US-11, Petal, MS 39465). The event uses a single loop of 4.167 miles that runners complete once each hour. Completing 24 hours of loops equals 100 miles.
The trail is wooded, mostly shaded, and largely flat with minimal elevation change. Surfaces include well-maintained single-track and some dirt or gravel road. Trails may have leaves and fallen sticks and can be slightly bumpy in spots. The exact course is under development and may include separate day, night, or wet-weather routes.
Format and rules require runners to be in the start corral at the top of every hour and to finish the loop within a 60 minute time limit. Runners continue hourly loops until they cannot complete a loop within the time limit or choose to stop. Pacers are not allowed and crew assistance on course is prohibited; runners may receive aid from other runners only. Crew tents may be set up near the start area and there is a designated tent for uncrewed runners.
Aid at the start/finish will include a stocked station with meals, snacks, and beverages, plus an unmanned water and snack table midway on the loop. Porto potties will be on site. Official results will list each entrant by mileage completed and no DNFs will be issued. Entrants who complete at least one loop receive a finisher medal. Entrants who reach 100 miles receive a buckle from Sheriden Buckle Co and the event awards an Alpha Wolf buckle for the 100 mile achievement.
Volunteers support start/finish operations, food service, and runner aid; volunteers receive $15 per hour in race credit that is transferable. Registration closes November 19, 2026 and cancellations generally receive credit toward a future Rougarou Running event unless the Add Refund Guarantee was purchased. In case of major cancellation entrants receive full credit to a future Rougarou Running event. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
