Last Skier Standing in Rumford, ME
Last Skier Standing is an on-site ski endurance event held in Rumford, Maine, using the Allagash Trail (blue square). The main climb on the course is approximately 1.5 miles up with 1,200 feet of gain. The venue includes an event lodge with blocked participant space, additional tent space in front of the lodge, and six bathrooms at the tent area.
Check-in takes place at the old base lodge from 8:00 to 9:30 a.m., with a group photo and pre-event briefing planned before the event start. Event parking is located in the overflow lot; participants are asked not to park in the public lot unless directed.
Mandatory gear and safety rules are enforced: bibs with visible bib belts are required, snow-rated helmets are required for all participants, and headlamps are required for nighttime laps; reflective armbands are provided for those who ski at night. Event personnel and ski patrol may restrict accompaniment on course sections and may disqualify unsafe skiing. A medic will be on site and organizers reserve the right to modify course or lap procedures for safety.
Support services include volunteers to help warm participants and manage gear, boot and skin drying, propane and boot heaters, a charging station and spare power bricks. Food and beverage offerings include hot water, coffee, hot sports drinks, soup, bagels, sandwiches, pancakes and bacon, plus snacks and aid-station items.
