About the race

Last Skier Standing is a ski endurance event held in Rumford, ME on February 5, 2027. The course uses the Allagash Trail and is described as about 1.5 miles uphill with roughly 1,200 feet of vertical gain. Participants can aim for elapsed efforts that include 6, 12, or 24 hour targets.

The venue includes access to an event lodge and a blocked area in front of the lodge for tents. Organizers will provide food and beverages such as hot water, coffee, hot drinks, soup, bagels, sandwiches, pancakes and bacon, plus typical aid station items. There will be six bathrooms at the tent area. A medic will be onsite and volunteers will assist with warmth, food, hydration, and basic gear help, including boot and skin drying and a charging station for batteries.

Mandatory gear and safety measures are specified: bibs worn visibly on a bib belt, reflective armbands for night participants, headlamps for nighttime laps, and snow-rated helmets for all participants. Rules address safe skiing, course accompaniment limits, and a no alcohol policy at the event venue; spectators may follow the mountain base lodge alcohol policies. Event parking will use an overflow lot and attendees are asked not to park in the public lot unless directed. Organizers note they may make minor changes to course or operations if needed for safety. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
