Laps For Love Backyard Ultra
The Laps For Love Backyard Ultra is a community-centered endurance event held in Wichita, KS at Sedgwick County Park near the Plum Shelter area. The event donates $100 from every registration to Family Promise of Greater Wichita to support emergency shelter, case management and housing stability programs, rental assistance, and long-term independence support for families with children experiencing homelessness.
This race follows the traditional Backyard Ultra format. The course is a 4.167 mile loop on a paved path with minimal elevation change. A new loop begins each hour; participants must complete each loop within the hour to continue. Remaining time between loops may be used for rest, refueling, restroom, and preparation. Failure to start the next loop on time results in elimination. There is no preset distance or time limit; the event continues until only one runner remains.
Race logistics note that registered runners will receive course maps and final details closer to the event, and a detailed map for crew sites is shared in advance. Runners must provide their own nutrition and supplies; crews are allowed at the start/finish area and may bring tents, chairs, and coolers. A stocked main aid station will offer water, light snacks, Ultraverse Supplements Proxima C, and solid food as the race progresses. Pacers are not allowed.
All participants who complete at least one loop receive a finisher item, and early registrants receive a t-shirt. Mile 90 Photography will cover the first 12 hours. Weather in Kansas can be unpredictable and there are no refunds or deferrals. Registration closes on Aug 20 at 11:59 PM CT. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
