Lamington Classic Trail Run
The Lamington Classic is a trail running event along the Border Track inside parts of the World Heritage listed rainforest of Lamington National Park. The course links O'Reilly's (Green Mountain) and Binna Burra and is measured as a one-way crossing of 21.3 km. A marathon option of 42.195 km is also offered by combining two crossings.
Race logistics include transport and gear transfer options for participants staying overnight at Binna Burra. Runners may be required to relocate vehicles or arrange for someone to move a car between finish locations. The route is described as a Class 4 walking track with rough surfaces, exposed roots and rocks, creek crossings and steep sections; ankle-supporting footwear and some bush walking experience are recommended.
Safety provisions note limited medical access in the forest, tail sweepers carrying basic first aid, and a qualified first aid person at each finish. Water is provided only at the Binna Burra and Green Mountain ends, so runners must carry their own fluids and a personal cup. Entry fees include lunch and there are trophies but no prize money. Specific qualifying requirements, compulsory gear and a mandatory stop apply to the marathon option. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
