Lake Vista Lunatics Run - November 8, 2026
The Lake Vista Lunatics Run is an endurance running event held at Deam Lake State Recreation Area in Borden, IN. The event uses a single marked loop of 4.167 miles that includes a steep summit with grades around 25 to 30 percent, creek crossings that can often be hopped, occasional downed trees, and rooty, rocky technical sections near the top. Runners descend the opposite side to return to the crew area and start another lap.
Three entry options are offered:
- 12 Hour endurance run
- 6 Hour endurance run
- Fun run of one lap
Participants complete repeated laps for either the 6 or 12 hour categories; total time and lap completion determine results. Runners return to the crew area between laps to top up water bottles and nutrition. Organizers provide limited backup electrolytes and nutrition, but participants are expected to bring their own supplies and crew support as needed. The event awards a finisher medal and prizes for top male and female endurance finishers; a Lake Vista baseball cap is included with registration. Registration capacity is limited to fewer than 50 spots before a wait-list is used to control attendance on the shared DNR site. Entry prices vary across available offers.
