Lake Martin 50/50: Alexander City, AL
The Lake Martin 50/50 is scheduled for March 6, 2027, at Russell Lands near Lake Martin in Alexander City, Alabama. The event is organized by Southeastern Trail Runs and features two main trail ultramarathon formats on private forest trails along the lake.
Distances
- 50 Mile: Two full laps of the 25.09 mile loop.
- 50K: One full 25.09 mile lap plus a repeat of the 6.4 mile South Loop.
The course is a 25.09 mile loop composed of an 18.6 mile North Loop and a 6.4 mile South Loop, with runners returning to the Cabin Aid Station between sections. Each full loop contains over 3,000 feet of elevation gain. Most hills are short and generally under 100 feet, with a longer half mile ascent known as Heaven Hill that gains about 200 feet. Trails are described as runnable and non-technical by regional standards, though runners should watch for roots and sections with fist-sized granite.
Each 25 mile loop includes four aid station stops, with two at Heaven Hill Aid Station and two at The Cabin Aid Station. Aid stations will provide water, electrolytes, grab and go snacks, and hot food. A medic will be present at the start and finish area. Packet pickup is scheduled on the event weekend and post race refreshments will be provided. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
