Lake Martin 50/50
The Lake Martin 50/50 is a trail ultramarathon held at Russell Lands and the Russell Forest Trail System in Alexander City, AL. The event offers two distance formats and uses a 25.09 mile loop that runs along the shores of Lake Martin on private land.
The course features rolling, runnable trails that are considered non-technical by regional standards. Runners should still watch for roots and sections with fist-sized granite. Each 25.09 mile loop contains over 3,000 feet of elevation gain. Most hills are short and under 100 feet, with a longer half-mile climb on Heaven Hill that gains about 200 feet.
Distances
- 50 Mile: two full laps of the 25.09 mile course
- 50K: one full 25.09 mile lap plus a repeat of the 6.4 mile South Loop
Support and logistics include four aid station stops per 25 mile loop (two at Heaven Hill and two at The Cabin Aid Station) providing water, electrolytes, grab-and-go snacks, and hot food. A medic will be present at the start/finish area. Packet pick up is available on the weekend before the race and post-race refreshments and food are provided.
