FreshChoice Lake Dunstan Trail - Marathon
The event is a point-to-point running event on the Lake Dunstan Cycling and Walking Trail between Historic Clyde and the Cromwell Heritage Precinct on 30 August 2026. The trail surface is a well groomed, firm packed cycle trail. The course elevation is approximately 650 m combined for the marathon, 200 m for the half marathon, and under 100 m for the 10 km.
Distances offered:
- 42.2 km marathon from Clyde to Cromwell
- 21.1 km half marathon starting near Hugo Bridge, includes a short boat transfer
- 10 km from Carrick Winery to Cromwell
Aid stations are placed approximately every 4 km and supply water, Tailwind, chips and lollies. No disposable cups will be provided at aid stations; each participant receives a reusable collapsible silicone cup in the race pack. The reusable cup and race number are the only required kit items listed. Marshals will refill cups from jugs; runners may carry personal soft flasks or a running vest.
The event provides on-course medical support including medics at set points, roaming medics on e-bikes and a boat on the lake. GPS tracking updates positions every minute and a cell phone must be carried to enable tracking. The trail remains open to other users; cyclists, walkers and dog walkers may be present, and dogs are not allowed through the gorge section.
Entry fees vary by distance and booking date. Refunds follow a tiered policy: up to two weeks before 80%, between two and one weeks 50%, and no refunds in the last week. Entry includes a finishers medal and a food or drink offering at the finish. Over one hundred dollars per entry supports local not for profit community groups for trail maintenance and local projects. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
