About the race
The Lake Antoine Classic is a fundraising running, walking, and biking event whose proceeds and donations go directly to Special Olympics. All events use Lake Antoine County Park in Iron Mountain, Michigan for start and finish.
Course types vary by event. The 15K Run and 15K Bike traverse the Fumee Lake Natural Area on mostly flat, unpaved scenic trails. The 5 Mile Run, 5 Mile Walk, 5K Run, and 5K Walk circle Lake Antoine on flat, paved routes that can accommodate strollers.
Event categories include competitive and noncompetitive options. Competitive events are the 15K Run, 5 Mile Run, and 5K Run, with overall awards for the top three male and female finishers and age group awards in standard age divisions from 11 and under through 70 and over. Noncompetitive events are the 5 Mile Walk, 5K Walk, and 15K Bike.
Additional details from the organizer note that preregistration is available only online and that race day registration is offered with late fees; entry t-shirts are not guaranteed for race day registrants. Special Olympians register free and there is a small per participant discount. Children aged 12 and under pay half price. Leashed dogs are welcome and helmets are required for the 15K Bike.
