Kyffhäuser Berglauf
The event is a multi-discipline sports meeting in Bad Frankenhausen held in April with start and finish at Schlossplatz (August-Bebel-Platz). It combines running, walking, e-bike and mountain bike competitions across a range of distances.
Distances and disciplines include:
- 42.195 km Kyffhäuser Bergmarathon Mütze Rätzel
- 27 km Run and Bike combination (6 km run, 21 km bike)
- 22.2 km Half marathon and half marathon Walking
- 13.5 km Kyffhäusersparkasse run
- 6 km DVAG Lutz Dildey run
- 2 km Schülerlauf
- 150 m Bambini run for kindergarten children
- 11 km Walking
- 6 km Walking
- 42 km Mountainbike race
- 21 km Mountainbike race
- 42 km Kyffhäuser e-Bike rally
Included in the entry are a start number with transponder, a finisher medal, course and finish refreshments, and electronic timing. The timekeeping uses a transponder system operated by go-timing. Walking events have minimum time limits; walkers who are faster are scored in the running classifications. Dogs are allowed only in walking and hiking events.
Medical support is provided along the course and at the finish. There are free unguarded parking options in town. Accommodation in a local sports hall is offered at five euros per night as part of the event arrangements.
