Kootenay Fun 5
The Kootenay Fun 5 is an annual community 5 km fun run in Cranbrook that raises funds for Kootenay Christian Academy. Now in its eleventh year, the event brings together families, neighbours and friends for a neighbourhood course and community activities. Net proceeds support sport and technology initiatives at the school.
The event offers:

The course starts and finishes on school property at Kootenay Christian Academy, 1100 Kootenay Street N. The route runs behind the school and church, follows Kootenay Street N. and 30th Ave. N., continues onto Stahl Road with a loop by the Isador Canyon parking area and city yard, then returns via Kokanee Drive/Crescent and Rotary Way to the school field. Surfaces are paved or packed gravel. Water stations are located at the start/finish area and at the halfway mark. Course marshals and first aid attendants are stationed along the route and maintain contact with the main first aid station.
Event notes include stroller access with stroller-pushers asked to start with walkers, free entry for children under five without a bib, and a requirement that all participants on the course wear their assigned race bib for insurance reasons. Timing chips are attached to bibs and are disposable. The first 500 registrants receive a race t-shirt and swag bag. Top three male and female finishers in each age group receive medals and overall winners receive additional prizes. Event results are posted after the race.
