Knacker Cracker - 10K

Knacker Cracker is a trail running event held on 1 January 2027 focused on a single 10K distance. The advertised route is exactly 10.000 km with 473 m of ascent and 335 m of descent, and it includes five major ascents of Box Hill. The organisers describe the race as "Britain's toughest 10k" and the event has received runner-voted awards in past years.

Race headquarters, parking and registration are at Denbies Wine Estate, with the start at the foot of Box Hill and the finish at Box Hill Fort at the top. If Box Hill cannot be used, a designated alternative course around Denbies Vineyard of about 12.5 km will be used. A water station is provided at 6 km. Toilets are located on the south side of the winery and at the race finish. A bag and key drop is transported to the finish for collection.

The course runs mostly on rough trail tracks with steep, muddy, rutted and sometimes slippery sections, and may include brambles and fallen trees. Headphones are not permitted on the course and spikes or studs are not allowed. A children s fun run called the Nipper Knacker runs alongside the main race; it has no entry fee, no results and no medals, and participants under 16 must be supervised. Marshals support parking, start, course marking and finish duties; marshals receive food and a complimentary place in a future race. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
