About the race
Kilkenny Ridge Race is a trail event on the Kilkenny Ridge Trail in Stark, New Hampshire, centered at the South Pond Recreational Area. The event offers three course options:
- 50 Mile
- 25 Mile
- 25K
The 25- and 50-mile courses follow the Kilkenny Ridge Trail end-to-end and involve long ridgelines, remote valleys, and roughly 7,500 feet of gain per direction. The 25K course runs from York Pond toward Route 2 and gains approximately 4,000 feet over about 15 miles. All courses are unmarked on the ground; runners are required to use provided GPS tracks and study maps before the race. Maps are available at bib pickup.
Aid stations include backcountry locations with limited food and water and larger turnaround and finish stations with expanded offerings. Runners can filter water at some points on course. Mandatory gear is required and will be checked at bib pickup; it includes 2 liters of water, a minimum calorie requirement, a windbreaker or rain shell, headlamp with extra batteries, an emergency blanket, warm hat and gloves, and a water filter.
Logistics include parking at South Pond, shuttles to some start lines, restrictions on crew access at specific trailheads, no pacers, and different drop bag policies by distance. Qualifications are required for each distance and navigation experience is expected. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
