About the race
The Kékes Csúcsfutás is a mountain running event finishing at Kékestető, Hungary's highest point. The main route covers 11.6 km with 671 m of elevation gain and follows a continuous ascent from Mátrafüred toward the summit. The organizers provide on-course refreshment and a special finishers' medal.
A trail variant follows forest paths instead of asphalt, keeps the same start and finish area in Mátrafüred, and includes a similar uphill profile over approximately 11.5 km. Both routes run through the Mátra mountains and pass wooded sections with panoramic views of the surrounding landscape.
Distances:
- 11.6 km road course, 671 m elevation gain
- 11.5 km trail course on forest paths
The event emphasizes the steady climb to the summit and the natural setting. It attracts participants from many settlements across the country and includes national mountain running championship races in some editions. Practical information lists Mátrafüred and the 24-es út as the location for the main race and the playfield in Mátrafüred as the trail start area.
