Jigger Johnson Ultras
Jigger Johnson Ultras is a multi distance trail event held in the White Mountain National Forest with start and finish in Waterville Valley, New Hampshire. The event offers three courses that run on rugged, largely unmarked mountain trails and require participants to use GPS files provided by organizers.
Distances:
- 100 Mile 108 miles 29,000 feet total elevation gain
- 50 Mile 58 miles 16,000 feet total elevation gain
- 20 Mile 20.1 miles 5,900 feet total elevation gain
The 100 mile course is an out and back from Waterville Valley to the South Moat trailhead and back, traversing multiple peaks including Mount Tecumseh, Mount Osceola, Mount Tremont, Big Attitash, and North Moat. The 50 mile route crosses mountainous terrain and includes summits of three New Hampshire 4,000 foot peaks. The 20 mile course has one aid station midcourse.
Aid stations and cutoffs are posted for each distance. Drop bags are allowed at aid stations for the 100 and 50 mile races; the 20 mile race permits a start finish drop bag only. Crew access to remote aid stations is restricted; volunteers may work at aid stations. Pacers are permitted under specific rules and must carry the same mandatory gear as runners and pass gear checks.
Mandatory gear lists are enforced and will be checked before racing; missing required items results in disqualification. Camping and parking information is provided for Waterville Valley and the Osceola Vista Campground. Live tracking and course GPX files are available for participants.
