About the race

The Ironwood Challenge is a roughly six(ish) miles off road trail race through ancient woodland, fields and forest above the village of Long Ashton in North Somerset. The course is mixed terrain and is historically very muddy in sections. It is fully marked and marshalled, and chip timing is included. Off road shoes are strongly advised. An ARC permit has been applied for.

Facilities at race headquarters include a baggage store, first aid and toilet facilities. Free cake and tea or coffee are provided for participants. Parking is available free but with limited spaces; local street parking is also used and competitors are asked to be considerate of local residents.

Entry fee is £20. The race is limited to 250 entries and the minimum age is 18 years. On the day entries are likely but cannot be guaranteed. Entries may be transferred to another runner prior to the race but cannot be transferred to another race. No refunds are given.

Nailsea Running Club is the organiser. The club will donate £1.00 from every race entry to Long Ashton Nature and Environment Trust (LANCE).

Prizes are awarded 1st, 2nd and 3rd overall male and female and 1st place category winners for Senior Male and Female, V-40 Male and Female, V-50 Male and Female, V-60 Male and Female, V-70 Male and Female and V-80 Male and Female.
