If You're Not First You're Last
This is a Last Man Standing format race held in Eagle, ID, at 165 Eagle Island Parkway. Competitors run repeated laps of a measured loop and are eliminated when they fail to start the next lap on time.
Distances and options
- 4.167-mile loop
- 3 Loop Challenge
- 50K counted for Idaho Trail Ultra Series points
Each lap must be completed within one hour. A bell signals the start of each lap and runners must be in the starting corral when the bell sounds; failure to be present results in a DNF. The event continues with repeated laps until only one runner returns to start; the final winner must complete one more loop than any other competitor. If no runner can complete an extra loop, there is no winner.
The 3 Loop Challenge is a separate option where overall fastest times determine one male and one female winner; completing three loops is required to count for the Idaho Trail Series. Race rules note no age group awards, no personal aid allowed during a loop, no non-competitors on course, and no artificial aids including trekking poles. A minimal aid station will be available at the start/finish with water and basic supplies. Packet pickup is scheduled at the Idaho Running Company in Boise; same-day registration is available and there are no refunds. Each runner may have two crew members at the start/finish.
