If You're Not First You're Last
This event is a Last Man Standing race held in Eagle, ID at 165 Eagle Island Parkway. Competitors repeat a measured loop of 4.167 miles each hour; each loop must be completed within the hour and runners must be back in the starting corral when the bell signals the next loop or they receive a DNF. The event continues until only one racer starts a loop and then completes one additional loop more than all other competitors; if no runner can complete one more loop than everyone else, there is no winner. Results record distance covered for every participant.
There is a separate 3 Loop Challenge that uses the same loop and awards the overall fastest male and female. Completing the full 3 Loop Challenge qualifies as one of four required races for the Idaho Trail Ultra Series (ITUS) jacket; running at least a 50K distance during the Last Man Standing event also counts toward ITUS points but only the 50K distance is eligible for points.
Additional details: packet pickup is scheduled at the Idaho Running Company in Boise on the specified days before the event. Racers registered by Sept 1 are guaranteed race schwag. Same-day registration is available. No refunds. Each runner may have two crew members at the start/finish. Aid at the start/finish is minimal; no personal aid is allowed during a loop.
