Ian Roberts Memorial Fell Race
The Ian Roberts Memorial Fell Race takes place on 14 March 2027 and is based at Marsden Cricket Club, Mount Road, Marsden (HD7 6NN, GR 046106).
The course is 10.3 km (6.5 miles) with 260 m (850 ft) of ascent. The route uses sections of the Pennine Way and the Standedge Trail, includes an ascent of Pule Hill and runs over boggy, rough moorland with tussocks. The race start is from grid reference SE 042108 on OS Landranger sheet 110, about a ten minute walk from the cricket club.
Entries open on 1 November 2026 and close on 11 March 2027. Minimum age is 18 and entry is limited to 200 runners. Entry fees listed are £7 for FRA members and £9 for non members for pre-entry; if places remain, on the day entries are £8 for FRA members and £10 for non members.
Organisers note there is always a possibility of wintry conditions and participants may be required to carry full FRA kit; the kit requirements for the day will be posted at the cricket club. After the race hot and cold drinks and a cake spread will be available. The cricket club requests that runners keep the clubhouse clean, remove muddy footwear before entering and do not use the toilet sinks to clean shoes or socks.
