Hume and Hovell Ultra : Run the Trail
The Hume and Hovell Ultra is a multi-distance trail event held at Henry Angel Trackhead in Tumbarumba NSW during Race Weekend 2026 on 10 and 11 October. The courses use sections of the Hume and Hovell Walking Track and follow a historic exploration route. Runners pass through native bushland and along Burra Creek, with some historic relics visible from the trail.
The event offers several race options with course characteristics noted by the organisers:
- 11 km Trail Race : 70% singletrack, 150 m gain and 150 m loss.
- 22 km Trail Race : 70% singletrack, 700 m gain and 600 m loss, two aid stations, 8 hour cutoff.
- 50 km Ultra Race : 90% singletrack, 1490 m gain and 1490 m loss, five aid stations, 10 hour cutoff.
- 100 km Ultra Race : 94% singletrack, 2500 m gain and 2500 m loss, ten aid stations, 24 hour cutoff.
- 100 km Relay : 94% singletrack, 2500 m gain and 2500 m loss, ten aid stations, 24 hour cutoff.
The event began in 2012 and is organised with community involvement. Race weekend also includes a kids dash and a presentation with a barbecue breakfast on the second day. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
