Houtlandtrail
The Houtlandtrail takes place in the Houtland region of West Flanders, starting from the town of Loppem. The event features a varied course that guides participants through the Brugse Ommeland, characterized by sandy soil, willow trees, and a dambord pattern of lanes. The routes pass through several private castle estates, parks, and nature reserves, including Domein Beisbroek, Domein Tudor, the Priory of Our Lady of Bethany, and Zevenkerken Abbey.
Participants can choose from four distinct distances:
- 18 km
- 25 km
- 35 km
- 50 km
The event is organized by Wandelclub Vier op Een rij Groot-Zedelgem and is part of the Flanders Trails series. The routes are fully signposted with kilometer markers. Registration includes a participation package with access to multiple refreshment and rest stations along the course, providing food and drinks. Sanitary facilities are available at these points, and a first aid post is located at the finish line.
The start and finish location is the Sportcomplex De Strooien Hane in Loppem. Free parking is available in the vicinity of the venue. The location is accessible via the E40 motorway (exit 7) or by public transport, with a bus stop near the sports center and Zedelgem station located approximately 3.5 kilometers away. Participation is only possible through pre-registration. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
